Buene House of Children (BHC) is a home where vulnerable and orphaned children find safety, family, and the chance to grow. Founded in March 2021 in Kabare (South Kivu, DRC), BHC provides daily care: shelter, food, schooling, healthcare, and spiritual support, so every child can heal and thrive.
BHC offers housing for 21 children; nutrition with three meals daily; healthcare via enrollment in the Kavumu health mutual and at-home care by a partner nurse when needed; education with 16 school-age children enrolled at Complexe Scolaire Les Génies de Kavumu; and daily hygiene routines. Children also enjoy enrichment like a guided visit to “Kilomètre 13” and participate in morning and evening worship/prayer with staff.
Buene House of Children exists to make abandoned and vulnerable children feel at home and cared for, as a foundation for their social and professional development. We ensure access to medical assistance and education across our hubs in DR Congo, Uganda, and Burundi.
We are implementing a community-involved model that uses local resources and moves toward self-reliance in energy and food. Our long-term plan is to buy land, build a village for children, and establish a school so they learn in a safe, stable environment.
Provide daily shelter and three meals for every child. Enroll all children in the Kavumu health mutual and ensure at-home care by a partner nurse when needed. Secure school enrollment and learning support. Maintain daily hygiene and a safe, stimulating environment for physical, emotional, and intellectual growth. Expand sustainability through income-generating activities and seek local and international partnerships to fund actions for orphans.
Step into the story of transformation. By becoming a volunteer with Buene House of Children, you’re not just giving time, you’re giving love, knowledge, and hope. Whether you’re on the ground or supporting remotely, your presence can uplift a child and inspire lasting change.
