Buene House of Children – Burundi

A Light of Hope in the Heart of Bujumbura

” Every child deserves to be loved, guided, and valued. In Bujumbura, this vision came to life. “

Center Overview

Founded in June 2020 , Buene House of Children Burundi (BHC-B) was the second official orphanage of the Buene Hope Foundation.
Located in Bujumbura , the center welcomed 17 children (9 boys and 8 girls) aged 1 to 11 years , all of whom were enrolled in school. This project was created to meet the growing needs of vulnerable children in Burundi and neighboring areas , offering a safe refuge, a quality education, and spiritual guidance

"Houses may close, but the hearts they changed remain open forever."

Our Mission in Bujumbura : To offer a stable environment where every child could rediscover joy, security, and dignity.

A Little Help Can Make A Big Change

Houses may close, but the hearts they changed remain open forever.

Daily life at Buene House of Children Burundi was structured by:

  • School classes and educational activities,
  • Prayers and group spiritual moments,
  • Communal meals shared in joy,
  • Games and recreational activities to foster emotional and social development.

Every day was a step toward reconstruction, trust, and the future.

Between 2020 and 2022, Buene House of Children Burundi:

  • Cared for 17 children full-time,
  • Enrolled 100% of them in school,
  • Developed partnerships with local schools and parishes,
  • Raised awareness among families about the importance of education and social follow-up,
  • Reintegrated several children into their original families with support.

Impact: The center's impact extended beyond its walls: it inspired a whole network of solidarity around the children.

In 2022, the foundation decided to group its projects in Bukavu (DRC) , to better concentrate resources and strengthen educational and social follow-up.

This transition marked the closure of the Bujumbura center , but the spirit of the project still lives through the current mission of Buene Hope Foundation.

What began in Bujumbura continues today in Bukavu — with the same passion and the same faith.

The Story Continues

Today, the mission of Buene Hope Foundation continues in Bukavu (DRC).
The values, lessons, and love that guided our projects in Burundi remain the foundation of our commitment to every child.
